What is a PIN?
- A PIN is a Personal Identification Number used to secure your library
record so it cannot be accessed by unauthorized person/s.
Important: Please use Numbers only. A PIN
should consist of between 4 and 8 digits.
The default PIN is your date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format
How do I know what my PIN is?
- The default PIN is your date-of-birth in ddmmyyyy format
- You can alter your PIN at any time by logging into your
my library record and
following the Modify PIN Instructions.
When do I need to use my PIN?
- to access databases, e-journals and online
videos off campus
- to access examination papers
- to access documents scanned by the library (for example: some E-Reserve
material)
- to renew loans, check holds and loans
What if I forget my PIN?
- Click on the Forgot Your PIN? link
above and follow the instructions in the pop-up for resetting your PIN.
- Alternatively, you can go into a
campus library and have it cleared or contact
InfoQuest (email reference service) using your
VU Email account. Email
PIN Queries from email addresses other than University staff or student email accounts cannot be acted upon. PIN's cannot be cleared over the
telephone.
- You can set up a new PIN by accessing the
my library page and
entering your student/staff ID number and then a new PIN. You will be
asked to authenticate it.
